![]() Clicking the installer file again simply restarts the very same dead end trip, even after two restarts. These can't both be true.Ĭlicking "close" in the error message removes the install window. In other words, my computer shows that the driver file has been removed, but the Wacom installer thinks it's still there. Checking the Applications folder, the Wacom items I'd previously seen there were gone, and a search showed 0 items (see attached screenshot). When I then attempted to install the new driver, I got the VERY SAME message about the existing driver. Then, I followed the precise instructions given: open the utility and click remove under the tablet software heading. I got a predictable message saying there was previous driver already installed that must be removed, which I did find in my applications folder. After installing Mojave, my Wacom Intuous tablet would not function, so I found the new driver, downloaded it, and attempted to install. Problem installing Wacom driver after update to Mojave There was a previous discussion about this issue in 2019, which matches mine now, and which didn't seem to have a solution then. ![]() Of course there may be a compatibility issue with some other third party software you have installed, or it may be a problem that Wacom will need to resolve. I have not noticed any posts on the Apple forums specifically mentioning issues with the Wacom tablets and M1 Macs, but I may not have seen them.Īre you running any anti-virus software, cleaning apps, or third party security software which may be interfering with the normal operation of macOS? These types of apps are not needed on a Mac and usually cause more problems than they solve. Plus M1 Macs also have compatibility issues with some third party devices. MacOS Monterey has had a lot of compatibility issues with both third party hardware & software. After mounting the external drive, they report they can reconnect the Wacom tablet and use both the tablet and the external drive just fine. Disconnecting the Wacom tablet has allowed them to mount the external drive. For example, many users have reported having issues mounting external drives while the Wacom tablet is connected. If you don't need those, you might consider trying the less expensive Intuos line for Lightroom.I have seen threads on these forums about compatibility issues with macOS 12.x Monterey and third party devices when a Wacom tablet is connected to the Mac. The medium size should make it easier to precisely control Lightroom, as long as you have the room on your desk for that size.Īside from the additional pressure levels and resolution (which you won't need in Lightroom), the only other reason to buy the Pro is for the shortcut buttons and control dial. The problem is that if you have to do things like drag a slider a short distance on a large monitor, that may require a very tiny hand motion on a small tablet. That's more resolution than you need for even a 4K display. The problem is not resolution these tablets have a resolution of 2540 (for the Intuos) or 5080 lines per inch (for the Intuos Pro). It can be especially difficult on a small tablet. That can make them hard to hit or drag with a stylus. Because of that, it isn't even necessary to spend the money on an Intuos Pro the full power of the Pro only gets used with the advanced interactive brushes and painting options in an application such as Photoshop. For those uses, over 8000 pressure levels is more than you need. In Lightroom, the only place the pressure levels matter is when you're painting with the Adjustment Brush, or in the mask for a Graduated or radial adjustment filter. If you're only going to use the tablet for Lightroom, spatial precision matters a lot more than pressure levels. For most things it's good enough, but Lightroom is kind of a special case.
